Goodbye 2007 Hello 2008

Today is the last day of 2007... well 2007 is a year of ups and downs... 1st half of the year was rather ok... but second half of the year is one of the most challenging period of my life... even my exams are taken with emotional baggage but things seems to be better now... and praise God i i am just 0.04 points away from my target CAP score.... I've learn a lot of things this year.... learning how to be a better person and living life with expectation mangement... a few more mins will the new year... i believe 2008 will be a better year for me... i know God will never shortchange me... hoping for quite a few things...... like better results.... better ppl relationships.... being healthy and be happy.... also hoping to be selected for SEP to Australia.... going for a world class dive trip... learn Nitrox.... and even more... hope next yr life will be more happening in a gd way...

Anyway below is one of the pic i got for christmas service... look at the background is so nice! anyway just made cheesecake... hope it will be good as is been long i have made one! okies... 5! 4! 3! 2! 1! HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my frens!!!!

Praise God!

Praise God... after much prayer and putting my faith in it... my CAP score once again increase and is a big increment with an A for the first time... 2 things was not very glad is that my Industrial Organisations I scored a B- instead of a minimum B which i was hoping as i studied for that paper for like a week and my Foundation of Econometrics more than a week... surprisingly those i studied for a short while instead score better... Ironic... not only me.. other ppl also feeling the same way... but overall im still happy about it as my CAP rose from 3.28 to 3.46 with this semester CAP at 3.875.... but a tiny bit of 0.04 more to hit the 3.5 mark....

Anyway Christmas service was gd... Drama was fantastic and best of all the candlelight service is so nice! will post the pics once i got them!

Life of Hosea

Imagine u as a successful righteous man married to a prostitute or a flirticious wife... while shes your wife she continue to flirt and sleep with other man... until one day she decide to elope with another man and abandon you... well that happened to a person in the bible called Hosea who is one of the prophet of God in the old testements... God commanded Hosea to marry a prostitute... i guess Hosea at that time was thinking... "God are u mad?"... well in the end he obeyed and married her and the first few lines happened... in the end Gomer which is the name of the wife got cheated by the man she eloped with and the man sold her to a slavery market to be a slave... one day Hosea was in town and while he is walking on the streets he saw Gomer his wife again... as he walked towards her... she hid herself away from him... when Hosea stands right in front of her... she told him that she is not worthy for him as she is guilty of what she has done... but Hosea redeemed her from the slave market and bring her home and clothe her with the best clothes and fed her with the best food and take her as his wife again and loved her for the rest of his life...

Well this story is also similar to the parable of the prodigal son in the gospel in the new testement... the above story is a symbol of Israel time and time again sin against God... but in the end God still forgive them and accept them.... everytime i hear the story of Hosea.. i feel so touched... is like wow.... what a wonderful husband.... even when the wife is so unfaithful he still love her... well in the modern days i feel quite sad when ppl just a little dispute between husband and wife.... the common word that utter out of thier mouths ruthlessly was Divorce... another thing that i felt from the story was acceptance... which make me think that many ppl in this world is looking for acceptance... everything they do just to gain acceptance affirmation and assurance... a lot of times i wanted to blog about Hosea as he always reminds me of God unconditonal Love... but somehow i didn't do it... shall blog it now haha... yeah... somehow felt inspired too =)

Oh yah well done Man U hahaha.... 1 point behind Arsenal and well done middlebrough destroy the egg at the L section of the table of Arsenal... Man U 4tw!

Tired

As the previous predicted and the title suggests...

1st Day of Work

Well today is my first day of work.... was raining like nobody business in Sentosa... Even before I start my work i was so careless dat i left my wet suit at home... but nvm manage to get a rented on as my boss manage to get it... anyway did my first dive in local waters... Visibility is very bad but still able to see an arm length vis and at the most 1.5metres... leisure diving and dive to work is very different... haha... Kind of tiring when diving to work... basically what i do is to unscrew the old nut... put in a longer nut... put the prefabricated metal rack in place... insert the treaded bolt and tighten it with nuts and washer... Wah Lah! done! lol... not easy job cos there is surge while working and a lot of sharp barnacles... but today was rather clumsy and slow cos was getting used to the procedure... yeah... and surprisingly there are fishes though some are weird looking lol... they seem to be interested in the things we do and come near us... after a day work was darn tired and sleepy.... yeah tml will be even more xiong... but quite worth it as the pay is gd... and i made an Islander membership as i have to pay the entrance fee myself... but with a gd pay i dun mind hahaha! and one things interesting is that me and my boss walk around in wet suit... kind of weird cos we look like aliens at beach station in wet suits.... Ok gotta rest for tml work... cya!

I do herby declare that I free from Exams!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeah!!!!!!! after a gruesome paper writing 3 essays today totally tortured me when the questions are kind of hard to answer.... didn't write much but hope can do well for it anyway ec2303 exam on wed is wicked sick..... the paper is tough... unlike previous yrr.... it seems like this sem all the papers are very tough compared to previous sem for the modules i took now.... anyway hope that i can score minimum CAP of 3.5 for this semester....

So far i feel liberated but at the same time quite bothered cos too many things in my mind now... like work... christmas.... and more... will be starting work on monday at sentosa... kind of excited on one hand as is quite well paid but on the other hand diving in Singapore = Murky and yucky sea water... which means my equipment is going through tough times... Anyway will blog more when i find the time and inspiration too... =) tata~

Blinds in Life

Excessive mugging and long idling between papers has really set my brain in thoughts and being philosophical ... suddenly while i was buying lunch halfway walking back home... a thought suddenly struck my mind... this thought was triggered off by thinking about someone whom i know around me who is rather i should say sensative... indeed life has many blinds as we go thru the journey of life... is like sometimes we dun strike a balance in our doing, thoughts and feelings... as a result we are blinded as we swing towards the extreme and neglect the other dimension of life...

Is like most working ppl or even students that life pace is so fast that you neglect about things around u... like family, relationships, friendship and leisure..... is like travelling in a car that is so fast that ur sight is so narrow and things beside are just blur due to the speed of the car or doing diving where the limited visibility blocks u from seeing wonderful marine life which might be a few metres away but unable to see it due to the poor visibility.... as a result many ppl are burnt out, fustrated, depressed and totally give up of wad they are called to do in life.... maybe the environment we live in are circumstances that force us to be like this as this society is focus on meritocracy.... and everyone is fighting hard in the rat race to be successful and wealthy and in uni life the bell curve where the stress comes from competition among peers rather than academic work.... and many the times a lot of other social factors that being a human is neglected... some even go against thier consciences and do wrong things to get their desire fulfilled....

Just blogged this out of my thoughts as i see ppl around me got burnt out.... got so resentful about life.... failed relationships.... indeed balance is the key of life... everything in life needs balance... an unbalance between work and rest or family might be the reason why communication breaks down and emotions went haywired during fatique and more, being rational and feelings in relationship like some ppl look for partners totally on citeria machiam like looking for maid or the other extreme totally based on feelings when themselves are blinded and find a wrong person which abuses them, and even in religion spirituality and humanity which u see some ppl go towards the extremes and become weird ppl or flaky ppl....

Hahah anyway this is just some random thoughts about life which i at times do thought of it... but i just didn't blog cos such thoughts just comes very random like in Buses, Trains, Church, School and even walking.... then when i reach home i tend to forget about it.... well think gotta hit my notes again for my EC2303 paper...

Life is Fragile

Think not long ago my fren Clement Passed away..... and a few days go i just realised my army fren Reuben passed away too in the recent dragonboat incident in Cambodia.... I was quite shocked too.... memories of the deaceased i had while interacting with them started to re-enacting in my mind.... people whom once nice to ya.... talk to ya.... joke with ya... are suddenly gone.... well maybe thats what one have to go through as an adult.... just like surprises of frens getting married and having children.... which is happening around me now.....

Yupz indeed life have been transfering from childhood to teenage years to young adult years and now going to transit to working adult in less than 2 yrs time... time passes really fast.... there is still many things in life i desire have not come to pass.... although i reaching my mid 20s... plus life is so volatile.... and fragile... after thinking all these... living life with a purpose seem to be important and significant in order to live a full life.... in the midst of being successful in future regarding career by being a boss myself with flexible working hours.... with a wonderful family in future.... what i like to see myself be is to be a gd fren to the ppl around me... a blessing which i lookfoward to be.... but many times in life now... i met obstacles... indeed doing the right thing like improving oneself and fight for a better future like obtaining a degree in NUS is like going against the current... out of these some of the reason is to gain acceptance which every human needs it but most of the reason is to fulfil who am i in this world...

Yupz... hahaha study too much liaoz.... just wondering things... and let what is in my mind flows out.... at the same time to reassure myself who am i... yeah.... =) for the frens out there... all the best for the remaining papers!!! shall meet after exams!!! cya!

Hardest Paper Encountered In NUS

Currently im still kind of demoralised by the EC3322 Industrial Organisation Exam.... The paper was very tough.... totally the opposite of what the past yr papers suggests which Tian Hao said pass year paper was easy... Me Nana Tian Hao and 2 other frens was discussing about it after the paper... everyone commented they screwed up the paper.... for me 25/60 marks was left blank cos no time to do... 2 hrs was never enough for the paper... Imagine the questions are even harder than the tutorial questions which the tutorial assignments took us 1 week to do and even discuss how to solve with just 3 computational questions.. exams also 3 computational questions... what Nana say was true.... we are not given a chance to show how much we study and worked hard for this module... is was so tough u dun even panic... u look at it u feel like give up.... yupz... feel rather unjustified.... but well... just hope at the end of the day... can get B and above... i already very satisfied...

Next to go is EC2303 and EC2373.... which EC2303 is my next challenge where i failed my mid term... i must do well for the final exam in order to get a decent grade of B and above... EC2373 is essay base which now i am trying very hard to get my readings started too... been procrastinating to read as i need the info to write for the essay... although is open book.. but i need the time to write rather than refering.... my ulitmate goal for this sem is to get a average semester non-cumulative CAP 3.5 minimum... as i wanna push up my grades for SEP... anyway below is the lastest Exam Schedule:

24 Nov 2007: SSD2210 - Managing Singapore's Built Environment, 9am @ SDE SR10-13, Open Book

26 Nov 2007: EC3322 - Industrial Organisations, 9am @ AS1-0201, Semi Open Book (Only 1 A4 Chit Sheet allowed)

05 Dec 2007: EC2303 - Foundations to Econometrics, 9am @ MPSH6, Semi Open Book (Only 1 A4 Chit Sheet allowed)

06 Dec 2007: EC2373 - Global Dimensions of the Singapore Economy, 1pm @ MPSH6, Open Book

Sunday, November 25, 2007

1 Down 3 More To Go

Exams Exams Exams.... having migrane now after studying for my second paper... overload of info... one of the toughest module encountered... EC3322... here is the info about my exam:

24 Nov 2007: SSD2210 - Managing Singapore's Built Environment, 9am @ SDE SR10-13, Open Book

26 Nov 2007: EC3322 - Industrial Organisations, 9am @ AS1-0201, Semi Open Book (Only 1 A4 Chit Sheet allowed)

05 Dec 2007: EC2303 - Foundations to Econometrics, 9am @ MPSH6, Semi Open Book (Only 1 A4 Chit Sheet allowed)

06 Dec 2007: EC2373 - Global Dimensions of the Singapore Economy, 1pm @ MPSH6, Open Book

Anyway went for service on sat.... i guess some of the points said are very relevant to the ppl i know around me... something have to "die" so that new and better things can be spring forth... gotta let go of the past bad experience and embrace new life... keeping bitterness and resentment can only make things worst... forgive and forget.... life will be much better.... such principle can be seen from a seed... a seed has to die and to be buried in the soil and in due season become a big strong tree which bear more fruits and seeds... yupz... something bad might happened or a mistake is done.... but if u were to continue hold the bad experience, things, habits and feelings so tight and dun let go.... u won't get to see the better side or be better... so gotta die to urself so that new things can spring forth...

Non Air Con Buses and Happenings of Mugging

Think i had told some of my frens that i do enjoy taking non air con buses during early morning, Evenings and after rain.... i like to take such buses and let the wind hit my face.... many of the times such instances let me think about things and relfecting upoon myself... i do enjoy taking bus rides looking at the scenaries move as the bus moves.... love that since my growing up years since childhood.... there is one time when my CCA is at Kallang at 7am at KSTC i would leave my bukit timah home at 5.30am to take bus 173 change to 10 all the way to nicoll highway... now i enjoy taking 151 and 74 non aircon buses... best after raining...

Recently busy mugging EC3322 industrial ogranisation and heres the happening and progress

"are u chrystal" she said "no".... Oh My gosh!!! so embarassing... i quickly say "sorry sorry" and i go look for my fren alvine....

6) Classical music like "Jupitor" from Holst is my mugging hits which can help me mug better...

7) Central Lib Video room is a nice place to mug

8) I need a brain that can understand things fast!!!

10 Cent More Just Becos I Wanna Add More Meat After Choosing?

9 more days to exams.... will be starting my Industrial Organisation mugging soon.... this module i bid for 800+ points must get B+ minimum... somemore is the most interesting module i took for the whole sem...

Recently was hit by a crossroad... yupz which makes me rather vex.... but such crossroad make me realise something and continue to improve myself.... change is the only constant in life... moving myself towards the better... which i believe in everyone's heart that everyone wants to be a better person and a better fren.... Exams are coming hope i can put aside all the burdens i have and move into full gear for the final exams...

Today was discussing with my fren... the economic rice store of the arts canteen after the new canteen was built... the portion become lesser... realise the ppl at the stall also very inflexible... wad makes me feel so was that i bought a plate of rice with 2 meat and 1 vege which cost 2.30 with rice... after i see the dish was too little meat i wanna add one more meat... the auntie wanna charge me extra 80cents which is 3.10 where i could get it at 3.00... wad was ironic was that the difference adding a meat while choosing and after choosing add somemore must pay 10 cents more.. for me i dun mind the 10 cents but one thing really makes me feel ridiculous was that the auntie was inflexible and charge 3.10 instead of 3.00... since i dun wanna bother abt the 10 cents i just pay and go off... but the inflexibility really makes me feel kind of bizare... is just adding of an additional meat after finish choosing wanna add somemore also wanna charge more... yeah... but that dun really stop me from patronising the store... just that next time must choose enough liaoz to avoid add somemore after choosing...

Anyway today soemthing interesting happen... took the courage to apporach Felicia Chin to take a picture with her... hahaha... yeah... today mediacorp came to Arts canteen to flim some show about canteen food in SG schools... the Laksa and the Japanese Food was featured... hehe hope Jamie Teo come next time... =P Yeah.. below is the pic... enjoy! =) hehe hope Jamie Teo come next time... =P

Recent Happenings

Thursday was my free day so kind of lazy to go out buy lunch and i cooked my own lunch... Its been quite a while since i cook my own meal... below was just a simple meal with luncheon meat fried till crispy... omelette and white rice... the whole meal was cooked without using any oil... the oil used to cook the omelette was from pan frying the luncheon meat... lovein it...

After that Yvonne, called me wanna go eat chi char at a place at upper thomson road at lower pierce reservior area... so i went to sch meet Mee Pok and we took his car and reach the place.. the place is called casuarina road and the resturant is called Ban Leong Wan Hoe Seafood....

The food we have are Hot Plate Tofu, You Tiao Salad, Prawn paste Chicken, 2 Sri Lankan Chilli Crab and Deep Fried Man Tou... for me i also had a plate of Mee Goreng... the food there was delicious... $21 per pax not bad... After that we went to Swensons at Thomson Plaza... and we pay only $4 as there was a promotion buy 1 sundae get 1 free... yup so we enjoyed ourselves... since is been long i had such a wonderful time...

Friday was boring.... had lecture.... and Saturday went K Box with my Freshie.... thank Samantha for organising it... appreciated it... look forward for more outings yeah?

Yupz recently for me honestly i was going through very tough times.... i feel like a sandwich... squash between academia and people.... yupz gott juggle both stuff at the same time... trying to live life with a renewed mindset and a pure heart.... not easy... but i believe is good for me...

Anyway today was Arise and Build Service... made my 6 month faith pledge... and was very touched by what pastor was sharing... what he says indeed speaks about what i am going through now... Cos i often struck by something called night terror... when u are by urself in your own room at night... u tend to feel negative... all the promises u had, all the confidence and all the faith u have might get sucked away by such night terror who comes like a thief at night... is like u will feel negative about urself.. like perhaps im won't do well in my school, im not a gd fren, im not going to suceed and more .... yupz the terror grips my heart so tight that i feel very miserable.... sometimes i gotta pray till i sleep.... yupz even heroes of faith like abraham also went through such things... gotta build myself up to fight against such terror... gotta remember the good memories i have but recently i got overwelmed...

Theres also another verse in the bible that also somehow speaks about how i feel now...

Proverbs 13:12 "Hope deferred makes the heart sick. But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life."

Indeed i have been feeling like this for the past few years... but now for me i gotta focus on the second sentance... the promises i had... many a times i think i cannot make it... i won't do well.... the future seems to be bad... although things are not doing well now... making many mistakes... a lot of things seems to go wrong and in tension... there is still flaws in me... but one thing i know is that it doesn't matter how u start... it matters only on how u finish everything... is like studying in school... it doesn't matter how gd u mug and do ur assignments in the early part of the semester... it only matters when u took ur final exam and and hand up ur assigments which ur final grade matters... After graduate... people dun look how u mug and prepare ur exams... only the grade matters.... yupz looking towards a bright future i going to have... although i cannot see it.... and things are bad now... but i know eveyrthing will end well.... when i continue to focus on prospering my soul and live life with a renewed mindset and a pure heart...

Tml will be my first day preparing for Exam... gotta work hard and do well so that i can go for my SEP...

Hi everyone! thanks for the concern shown over the weekends... Im alright... the current thing that is bothering me now school work, SEP application and my relationship with people... yupz...
For school i already failed EC2303 guess the only thing now i can do is to work harder and do well for my final Exam... which is in a month time... for other module gotta work hard to score gd grades to backup the poor grade that EC2303 might bring forth....

Secondly, i am doing my SEP application... was very confused on how to do the study plan (which u gotta plan what module u wanna take in overseas partner university and link with which module in NUS provided) and a 500 word essay on how u can be a good ambassador for NUS. Anybody knows how to do abt it pls contact me ok? Thank God my dad will be sponsering for the SEP for me if its below 10K and now i am hoping to get the $3000 scholarship from SP alumni.

Lastly, the final thing that bother me is my relationship with people... yupz still hoping for the best... yupz it takes time... hoping at the end of the day everything gets better at the same time being a better person =)...

he passed away

I was quite stunned when i saw the msg from Jo... after a few moments indeed i felt grieve... never in my life that i had a fren who passed away.... felt that nothing is taken for granted.... Indeed life is fragile... he is someone who has went mission trip with me twice and become my roommate who used to sleep beside me passed away yst morning... he fought a long battle with cancer... despite of suffering in this disease and the pain... he chose to look life positive... i will never forget the moments i used to chat with him in the room... i admire his courage... his passion for God.. See u in heaven my fren...

First Test Failure in NUS

Just received my mid term for EC2303 indeed i failed my first paper in NUS 14.5 out of 30 ... although is a margin of 0.5 but the means score was 18.6 and the median score was 18.5 with Standard Deviation of 4.9 which means i'm like at the lower bound of the whole cohort in the class... think gotta study harder for econometrics and my EC3322 which is tough too... kind of having a dampen mood after i know my mid term results... i need a laugh gd time seriously... i also realised i drop a lot of hair while im showering... bad bad bad.... too much things (not only academic stuff) in my head already....

Parables

Parable 1:
A Salesman selling his products... some customers appreciates his products... some conversely dun.... At first he sow a lot of effort convincing the customer which dun appreciate what he sells, trying to improve his product and being very nice to the customers... but he reap nothing... no results... instead he turn his focus on the small demand that appreciates his products... and he earns some profit and the profit can be used to develop his product...

Parable 2:
Some people love cars.... car owning in Singapore is very expensive... in terms of buying and maintaining it.... car lovers wish to own as many cars they like as possible... so he or she bought many cars... in the end he go bankrupt in buying and maintaining the cars... burn out in terms of washing and maintain the car too... then now he is suffering from depression due to such unecessary burdens that he had purchase...

Going to be 4pm liaoz time to have a nap before mugging my mid terms liaoz... yupz... cya!
