Bus Fares
Seems like after 3 July 2010 fee restructure, my bus fare had increased tremendously relative to the rate increase by PTC or Transit link for the past few yrs (increase by 1 or 2 cents)... I realised 90% of the fares I paid now increased by 10 to 20 cents and the decrease which the authorities claim only 2-4 cents decrease which make up the remainder 10% of my transport fee... now on a week basis... my fare increased by 2 to 3 dollars and could potentially increase to 8 to 12 dollars per month.... Guess the new fee structure only benefits those ppl who do a lot of transfers....
PTC claims that the bus fee structure is to be fair to everyone pay fees... but i felt is a move to increase bus fare and increase revenue... why is dat so?
1) basic fares now is at 71 cents... in the past is 69 cents? isn't it an obvious increase of price by using a shroud to cover by saying now is a fairer way to charge
2) now the price breakdown is much more (look at bus stops the fare breakdown)... if you do economics and do some calculation... you will be able to reap more revenue to capture the different price paid by consumers, which is similar to price discrimination...
Just my personal thoughts... dunno whether others are experiencing increase in transport fees?
